StreetPass Mii Plaza – 3DS
Wait, How did a console system app get in here? As the Most played 3DS game, and most started game on across all of my 3DSes combined, it was hard not to be included. As this game is technically still playable, as Streetpass between 3DS systems still works, despite the closure of servers. It is also still being sold by Nintendo. So as per Rule 3, this game is still valid.
This game is more to encourage Streetpass use, than being a gripping story. But still completing those puzzles took their time. Would I recommend starting today? Not today, as how few Streetpasses I’ve gotten in the last 2 years.
Super Smash Bros Ultimate – Switch
With 3 Smash Bros Games eligible for consideration. The 3DS version would have been the choice if it wasn’t for Ultimate’s complete roster and nearly complete, with every character returning, and almost every stage returning. Given that Ultimate using Smash For Wii U ended up making the game go last.
The DLC characters have been surprising to say the least, but well worth bringing in.
Tales of Xillia– PS3
With 6 Tales game to pick from, The Tales of Xillia is the only one I’d want to play again. This is partly due to the age, and partly due the fact Zestiria hasn’t age as well as the reset of the series. It’s not saying that games are bad. They are not. But as third largest RPG to come out of Japan, it’s been doing well since almost every game in this decade released has gotten a Western release.
Unlike most games where they expect you to play though the same game mulitple times with very few changes, this time they have you follow both Jude or Milla, as the “main” character.
Tomodachi Life – 3DS
This is one silly game, if you can call it a game. You guide a series of Mii to see what crazy stuff they may do.
I better let Bill Trinen explain.
Wolfenstein: The New Order – PC (PS3, PS4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One)
This the only eligible game from the series on the list that I’ve played. I haven’t got round to the DLC add-on, or getting the Sequels. Wolfenstein: The New Order takes place in a Mostly in a Alternate 1960’s, where the Nazi’s won World War 2. You take the role of the B.J. Blazkowicz. The Gun play in this game is excellent. While a there is a lot of gun play, there are sections where stealth and being smart take over.
I heard the sequels are pretty decent.
Warframe – PC (PS4, Xbox One and Switch)
Another Free to play game, and it is surprisingly good for a game that doesn’t really have the Budget of some of the others, nor does it have Microtransactions pushed in your face. You can reasonably far without the need to getting the Paid items. Most of the non-cosmetic items that cost money actually are obtained via other means that are time consuming.
This was 11th on my top 10 last year, but is on course for a place this year.
Xenoblade Chronicles 2 – Switch
Another set of 3 games up for consideration and all could end up on this list. I’ve manage to play 3 out of the 4 games in the Xenoblade series. (I’m treating Torna as a Separate game, due to the seperate despite it being DLC for Xenoblade Chonicles 2.) With the Xenoblade Chronicles on Wii being a 2010(Japan) /2011(Europe) release, it could easily valid on it’s own, as well the New 3DS remake. The Wii U’s Xenoblade Chronicles X doesn’t really fit with the other games in the series. While Xenoblade Chronicles 2 just about nudged out ahead, mostly due to how close to the final boss I’ve gotten, compared to the other games.
As Torna was not played, so I can’t really add this to this list.
There is no reason not pick one game other the other baring the console choice. There is an HD remake of Xenoblade Chronicles intended for the Switch in 2020.
While a handful of games that had on my top Ten games that I played failed to get in, but the issue for some games wasn’t that they where only played once for a year and that was it. A Persona game missed out as well as several other games that I had considered as well. Persona 4 Golden and P3P lost points out due the fact they’re remake, and I barely got in to Persona 5 before something else took my attention away.
