With most of the hype and controversy recently, I really need to address this.
What I won’t do:
- Use AI to create text for my scripts or novels. (The Words are written by myself, I may go off by own script, but still the words are mine.)
- Create images or video that is created using “Generative AI,” for public consumption.
- For most “review” video/articles, most content comes from the 3rd party, they may have “Generative AI” as part of the representative sample that I use and this may not be disclosed, and therefore I can’t guarantee every video and image is clear from AI.
Do I use AI?
Well this is a complicated question, as I could easily ask “which type of AI?”
For Every gaming channel I’ve made a video for, that is Mike’s Holodeck, The Taken Wolves of Felwinter, Boardingbob and Gameplay Videos on the Mike Sharpe, Writer channel all have used computer controlled characters. These computer controlled characters are controlled by an extremely basic AI compared the ones people are complaining about. Most of the time the “AI” in these games are actually scripted and will react to the player somewhat predictably.
Those aren’t the issue, and have been around for Decades, especially when I’m playing mostly older games. Almost no one is complaining that Gran Turismo 7’s Sophy AI, other than it’s not on the PS4.
I however do use tool that have been called AI.
- Whisper Speech to Text – This is one of the addons for the Subtitle Edit software. This is used to create the basis of my Subtitles/Closed Captions for my Videos. I do however check it’s output make changes where needed. Fantasy and Sci-fi terms are often enough to make the review a requirement. (Why not YouTube’s own Subtitle generator? Whisper is more accurate, and doesn’t cause formatting errors that extends the process. Also, I can start while I’m waiting for an upload to complete.)
- iRay DeNoiser – This is the only AI “Image Generation” tool I have used for this site. iRay’s AI Denoiser turns a really grainy image in to something more better. This does take the image and clears it up, by getting rid of “Fireflies” and graininess. This is built in to the rendering engine of the 3d software I use, DAZ Studio. However, It turns out I’ve hardly needed to turn it on.
- YouTube Inspiration Tab and Other companies YouTube AI tools – I use this a possible source of topics to cover. Once I’ve located a topic to cover, this is where the AI involvement ends. I use it as suggestion box, or starting point for a video. This currently the only online only tool that I use.
- Smartphone word suggestions – When I’m out typing on my Smartphone, I take advantage of tools built in to my Device. This tool is very common and runs locally. I must select the word I want, so it often makes suggestions based on the word that I’ve partially or just typed. This is one of two tools that “Type” for me.
- Spell Check and “Ducking” Autocorrect – These tools have been around for ages and also run on my local hardware, these stop me makingreallylongwords or worms that don’t seem appropriate to topic at hand. I can override/ignore the suggestion or revert the text back to what was typed. The is the other of two tools that “Type” for me.
